Mention envelopes stuffed with cash and most people will instantly think “AdScam”. Afterall, if shoveling cash into your friends pockets were an olympic sport the federal Liberals would be heavy with gold medals. It doesn’t come as much of a shock then, that their Ontario provincial counterparts have joined in on the action.
The eHealth program is an incredibly mismanaged sink hole for public funds – now the government has confirmed allegations that untendered contracts issued by eHealth are nearly double what previously revealed.
The CBC said:
The CEO and chair of the provincial agency both resigned in June after it was learned eHealth had given out about $5 million in consulting contracts without competitive bidding.
However, eHealth has now confirmed that one of those consultants, Courtyard Group, secured another contract in April worth $8.5 million — about half of which was untendered.
$9-million in untendered contracts? But that’s not all. One of Courtyard’s founders is John Ronson. Mr. Ronson just happens to be the chair of the Liberals’ 1995 election campaign.
Looks like the Ontario Liberals didn’t just borrow a few envelopes, looks like they borrowed a wheelbarrow and shovel.
