One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the Democrats will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new Democrat overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted internet personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground change caves.
As I mentioned earlier, I try to eschew American elections. However, I’ve been sitting here watching results and news coverage. I find it somewhat amusing that the media is gushing about how American’s have ‘voted for change’ when it looks like the difference between Obama and McCain is roughly 3%.
In any case, it looks like the Democrats are set to sweep with a majority in the Senate and just shy of a majority in the House.
Based on McCain’s performance, and on the albatross around his campaign’s neck that was Bush’s presidency, I would have been shocked if Obama didn’t win. The real question now is what are the Democrats going to do.
They inherit a nation that’s under a crushing debt load, mired in Iraq, and facing one of the worst recessions in years. Worse, their promise of ‘change’ seems to revolve around spending even more money they don’t have. The only way to pay for all their promises is more taxes or more debt.
Already, during his victory speech Obama has laid the groundwork to excuse weak performance, saying that “government can’t solve every problem” and that problems won’t be solved in a year, maybe even in “one term”.
Somehow, I suspect that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Wait until the college kids they wooed try to find a job when they leave school.
Then the hangover will set in.
